Description
Radiation-resistant space grade polymer
Z-PEEK is one of the strongest polymers on the planet with strength-to-weight ratio comparable to stainless steel. It can withstand extreme temperatures from - 100 °C to 250 °C and retain its properties even after years of exposure to Low Earth Orbit environment. The material is also particularly resistant to abrasion. Stress tests with PEEK-steel gear pairs shown that PEEK gears could withstand over 22 million cycles at 1600 RPM. Z-PEEK can be also cooled down with liquid nitrogen to cryogenic temperatures reaching -196 °C.
Applications
- space-industry components
- out-of-cabin aircraft components
- radiation-resistant parts
- abrasion-resistant mechanical parts
Main features:
- Resistance to radiation
- Excellent thermal properties
- Resistance to abrasion
- Great strength-to-weight ratio
Composition:
Polyether ether ketone - 100%
Applications- Space-industry components
- Out-of-cabin aircraft components
- Radiation-resistant parts
- Abrasion-resistant mechanical parts
Z-PEEK is resistant to radiation. It has been proven to withstand over 46 months of exposure to Low Earth Orbit environment without shielding.
Extreme temperaturesA pump printed with Z-PEEK can operate in a wide range of temperatures. It can be safely heated up to 250 °C and cooled down to -100 °C.
Abrasion resistanceZ-PEEK is a great filament for heavy-duty mechanical parts. Can be used for printing gears or components for polymer-metal sliding systems.
