Description
This extruder upgrade kit for the Ultimaker printers replaces the original feeder, it comes with it´s own Nema17 high precision geared steppermotor.
It allows for a more reliable printing with all sorts of filaments, both stiff and flexibles and the DualDrive system ensures that the extruder never looses grip of the filament so grinding, slipping is a thing of the past.
The high resolution makes printing with small nozzles <0.30 mm a simple task for those high-res prints.
The included mount in SLS printed nylon installs in the holes used for the factory extruder and has an included vibration isolation foam to be placed between the rear side of the printer and the mount.
Also the gearbox that the mount clamps around is fitted with a vibration isolation foam to reduce the vibration from the stepper-motor to transfer to the printer frame to reduce sound during operation.
Installs in about an half hour with standard tools available.
E-steps needs to be updated to 492.45 and the feeding speed used when performing a "Material Change" from the LCD of the printer.
Firmware with adjusted E-step and feeding speed is available for Ultimaker2, Ultimaker2 Extended, Ultimaker 2+, Ultimaker 2+ Extended.
You can also send a M-code to the printer directly to set the e-steps (more info here) under the section E-steps, but remember that using the "Material Change" from the LCD on the printer will not work as it will stall the motor.
The reason for why the stepper motor stalls is that our motor uses a planetary gear reducer, this means that the motor will have to turn faster to feed at the same speed as the original feeder.

For best performance also use PTFE tube 3.18/6.4 mm diameter as you can find below.
